Both my bachelor and master studies are called Media Technology. I followed my bachelor at the University of applied sciences Utrecht in The Netherlands where I got in touch with a wide variety of technologies and how to apply them. I did an internship researching acoustic simulation software and I graduated on an infusion pump interface design at TNO cognitive systems engineering. My master study concentrated on a mixture of technology, art, creativity and science. Here I followed many courses and electives at various universities with varying topics like computational linguistics, AI, embedded systems, light architecture, metamedia and human computer interaction. At this point I was very interested in which ways technology can enrich our experience of the world around us. Concentrating on experiencing our environment and perception I ended up graduating at the perceptual intelligence lab at the Delft University of Technology researching gloss perception.Within the PRISM program I will work on the perception of liquids and their viscosity. This will be very interesting and challenging because of the highly dynamic nature of liquids compared to static objects where most material perception research is dedicated to. It also has a nice technical touch to it where my diverse background will really pay off.
