My research focusses on the visual perception of materials, objects and their physical properties. I use a combination of perceptual and behavioural methods, computer graphics, image analysis and computational modelling (including deep learning). My goal is to determine the cues and computations that the visual system uses to infer the appearance of surfaces and objects, categorise and interpret novel stimuli, predict their future behaviour and guide our physical interactions with them.
