Prediction of position and motion during saccadic and smooth pursuit eye movements

Project A1 investigates precision and dynamics of both, smooth pursuit and saccades, as well as their interaction. The main focus of project A1 is the integration of position and motion information of external moving visual stimuli during initiation and maintenance of pursuit responses and the interaction with the saccadic system, at the behavioral and the neural level. At the same time project A1 will investigate how target directed eye movements influence the quality of predictions about complex movement trajectories of these targets. In parallel to these behavioral experiments, A1 will measure the responses of single neurons in parietal areas LIP and VIP macaque monkeys.
