About the database

Logo

The Giessen database of hyperspectral fruit and vegetable images is a collection of 42 hyperspectral images of fruits and vegetables, taken under controlled lighting conditions using a stabilized, broadband illuminant located near the daylight locus.

The database is primarily designed for researchers in color vision, but can have applicability elsewhere. The database has been officially published in JOSA A. Access to the article can be found here.

A permanent repository containing the calibrated data, colorspaces, masks, and MATLAB code is available on Zenodo here.

A permanent repository containing the RAW data from the camera sensor can also be found on Zenodo here. Please note that it is mainly for preservation. You are not expected to work with the RAW data.

We have released the database, and its supporting documentation and software, under the MIT license, so feel free to make ample use of the project and to share it with others.
